We value membership at South Suburban because we believe commitment to a local church is an important part of following Jesus together. While you won't find a verse in the Bible that says, “You must become a church member,” when we consider what Scripture teaches about belonging, commitment, and life together in the local church, it closely reflects what healthy churches practice today through church membership. When we talk about membership, we are not thinking of it like other memberships, such as Costco or the gym. Instead, we are using biblical language from 1 Corinthians 12:27: “Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.”
